THE BEND AT THE RIDGES

Third place is a space that is not owned by a singular person but is a space that a person is able to be comfortable enough to relax and enjoy themselves. This BOLD design of Ridges Building #2 proposes to use the concept of third place in its RUSTIC and HISTORIC design elements. Third place will be accomplished through comfortable seating areas, warm lighting, and familiar signage. The hard and soft seating options will provide a third place for the second floor residents as well as accomplish the rustic elements of this design. To honor the history of the building and site, historic elements will be achieved in the dark wood placed throughout the space and through the historic furnishings. These elements will guide the guests through the space and signage consisting of brick with raised 3dimensional letters will provide familiarity and wayfinding indication of areas of rest with comfortable seating. This space will be for guests, the residents of The Bend, and the Athens community to enjoy.
